But if he releases all songswith a video before release whos going to buy it?
I thought about that as well. I think it's a slight flaw in his plan but I won't speak on it.
From what I'm seeing as fif said back in like 07-08 we are in a singles driven market. The funeral already has over one million youtube views and the link to buy on i-tunes is present there under the video. I don't know how many sales can be gained from that but it will translate to some sales and it will continue to be viewed/purchased for years to come. Then you have the money coming from youtube directly and streaming radio payouts. Someone could buy this track and still purchase the entire album, buy each track individually, buy some tracks and skip others etc. He has the pre-orders set up to so people may pre-order, can't wait and still purchase individual tracks before they get their product on the release date.
It looks to me he isn't doing the traditional first week sales model the industry is using. That model builds excitement for one day (the day of the release) and then it's over. It's not really a lasting plan imo as it promotes a specific day almost over the product itself. Once that day is over, the product itself is over to, the consumers move on the same way they do for any other holiday. Does that make sense? Just a theory I've been formulating recently.
