Take a moment and think of all the coaches who've come and gone in this league. They've had excellent teams, regular season wins, creative schemes, dominating defenses, etc., but for one reason or another could never get over the hump and make it to a Super Bowl. Or made it only to one and lost in heartbreaking fashion.

Making the Super Bowl is ridiculously hard. Your teams have to stay healthy, they have to play the right schedule, they have to have the right players, they need to get lucky more than once. There have been so many great coaches who've never won a championship, or even had the opportunity because they could just never make it that far.

Kyle Shanahan has had TWO of those opportunities in the last four years. And not only has he had two of those opportunities, but he's been in near-guaranteed position to win on both of them. And twice now, he's snatched defeat from the jaws of victory for the exact same reasons. An excellent offensive mind, to be sure, but this kind of thing is going to haunt him for the rest of his career. Especially if the 49ers never make it back there.

Ironically, Andy Reid used to be one of those coaches as well. Not after tonight, though. Congrats, KC. Congrats, Reid/Mahomes/Hill/Kelce/Watkins/Jones/Clark/etc. Congrats, all the KC fans on here. I didn't really care who won, but it's always nice to see a team end a long drought (so long as it's not the Cowboys :scust:) and reach the top again. :salute:
