Once you get the hang of it it's just :wow:

There are all sorts of add-ons and different skins, you can use your phone as a touchscreen remote, get email, check facebook shyt, twitter etc.

A lot of what Xbox Live and PSN have just straight up copied what was going on with XBMC back in the day.

I've been without cable for over 6 months. I'm cool. Luckily the Lakers suck which eased the transition. But I have a bar literally 5 minutes walking distance that plays all of the sports if I ever needed it. But I've been all about my money lately so sports kind of took a back seat.

But the good thing for me is that I'm on the west coast. Torrents and netflix has held me down for my basic viewing and my shows I catch up on. I only watch 2 shows and they just ended their respective seasons so I may entertain cable next year. But I didn't really struggle without it. If anything, it taught me to utilize something I desperately needed, which is patience.

With the kids i need NIck and Disney and sh@t. Plus the wife needs her religious channels...

Other than that with mlb.tv and netflix and my server, I would have cancelled years ago

1channel add-on
1Channel Addon Repository | XBMC HUB

Once you've installed XBMC, download the 1channel zip file and save it to your desktop so you can find it easier. Then, open up XBMC, go to System > Add on > install from zip and select the 1channel add on which is on your desktop. It will install it and then you can add 1channel button to your menu bar in XBMC like this -

I use 1channel primarily for TV shows, and once you get the hang of it you find out which links stream the best (Sockshare, Gorillavid, Daclips by far).

NAVI-X is more for Live TV (or movies) you install it the same way as 1channel. When you want to find movies, tv shows and what not you go through the first option in the menu which is "Media portal". After that you can choose the Navi-X networks, or user hosted channels which are great.

I'd recommend getting an HD antenna if your building doesn't have one, that way you can get all the local channels if you want, and you can even run them through XBMC if you get a tuner card and turn your PC into a DVR.

You are a god among mere mortals.

I finally figured this shyt out and have been fukking around on it for hours.

Mind ... blown.

I'm a mess with that XBMC later on, but I know that once I get it down, I'm going to end up building an HTPC for it when it's all said and done

Did you install from zip? If so you have to customize it to show up on the menu bar, you're using the Confluence skin right?

Go to System - then appearance - then skin and you'll see this -

Click the settings button -

And then here -

Click on "Add-on shortcut" in the video submenu and it should be there in the menu. You can also customize the skins to pretty much anything, I use Aeon Nox or Alaska.
