There's no way WWE doesn't own the rights to that music. That would be like working for ATT and coming up with a new type of phone. All that shyt is owned by the company.

the music is different though. it's not like that in WWE today or likely not even in the last 10 years. but the majority of those songs were written and produced by Jim Johnston as an independent contractor. WWE has to pay him for every show his songs are on. that's why all this ECW and WCW shyt is dubbed over. they don't wanna pay the other artist :pachaha:

also not only were the songs majority owned by Johnston, most were also distributed by an independent record company. for example.

WWF The Music, Vol. 3 - Wikipedia

all songs written and produced by Johnston. record distributed by Koch records. WWE simply has a naming rights deal.

either way who cares. it all boils down to how long the naming rights deal last. just hope it never comes to them dubbing over the classic themes
