I was just thinking about this in class. I was telling myself that maybe Sony will have 4K when they release the PS5 like around 2020 or something.

But damn, already with the 4K talks...

There won't be 4k gaming with the ps4 or X1 on the current hardware. That's a gaurantee. The gpus are NOWHERE near good enough for 4k...nowhere. Right now you need 2-4 very high end gpus on the PC to game at 4k at acceptable levels. The ps4 and X1 are low/mid in comparison.

4k on a single card is YEARS away, unless you buy a $2k card or something (that isn't even out yet).

I need 2 very high end gpus (780ti sli) in my computer to do 3k. I gotta put 3 gpus in my system if I want 4k at acceptable levels.

very true. also who really has a 4k tv? 2% of console owners?

It's about future proofing breh. Technology companies never stand still. 5 years ago pretty much no HDTV's were smart TV's. Now it's almost impossible to buy one without. Same goes for 1080p (my 1st HDTV as 1368p).

As manufacturing gets cheaper, you'll start to see $500 4k HDTV's. The real issue like the breh said are the ISP's. Thankfully I still fux with disk based media, but fukk Comcast, TWC, and AT&T and their bullshyt caps :pacspit:

:yayo: I gotta cop another PS4 to get the 4K functionality????? :dahell:

they can't address that via update?

Nope, it's a hardware problem. The PS4 doesn't have HDMI 2.0. We're just now starting to get affordable receivers with HDMI 2.0 ports on them.

Just to be clear this does NOT mean any ps4 games will be in 4k because the GPU has no chance. Shyt, even the best PC gpu out right now can barely handle 4k at an acceptable frame rate unless you use two of them in SLI and even then you have to pray games are optimized correctly. So if you don't have a 4k tv don't even bother with this. Also, netflix 4k is HIGHLY compressed and is nowhere near true 4k, just like their 1080p is nowhere near bluray 1080p. Don't fall for any of this until there are actual 4k blurays in store you want to purchase.
