This was an interesting comment left under the article:

Everyone is being short sighted. Read between the lines.. Because of the Tribal customs, what they (mother and son) are doing is trying to save the mother from having to be held a servant for the rest of her life to the Brothers of her late Husband. In their Tribal custom the Man has to pay a dowry to Marry. Apparently the Husband passed away before completing the payment. The Brothers family want the wife in exchange for the Marital Debt. The Mother would be subject to slavery and being raped by all the brothers at will if she were to remain with them. So her and her son has created this story to cancel the debt. For if the tribe banishes her from the village the debt is no longer owed. Regarding the pregnancy, if she is pregnant from a man other than her husband, it is consider such a crime that the punishment is death. And she would be considered dirty so non of the brothers would stop the killing of the woman. Their only option is to make up a story of mother/son. They maybe be labeled evil but she will be banished not killed and free but not a slave. The son loves his mother enough to start his life over somewhere else by ruining his name with the implications. (if she is pregnant its probably someone else child). #myopinion
