Lubin won't be the same after this

yeah i agree you on this..the worst thing that can happen to a chinny fighter in the ring is that he somehow manages to take extended punishment in a fight....what you prolly saw is whatever manageable punch resistance lubin had go bye bye...he is not going to take shots well again..esp if he fights again like how he did last night...i thought fundora's fight IQ was lacking before this fight but damn lubin what the fukk? :why:..lubin was always a skilled but chinny guy..but then he is allowing fundora to spam and hit him with flush uppercuts on the inside :smh:

WBC had 2 bs “interim” belts “printed”. One for Harrison, one for Fundora. Both had one during their post fight in ring interviews….

And we have all them actually on the line soon. How confusing is that for anyone new to the sport, smh.

I hope Fundora and Harrison didnt pay the WBC sanctioning fees.

I was surprised Lubins corner didn't have any " cut man end swell", I think it would have help a little. They had a zip lock bag with ice in it... reminiscence of Tyson vs Douglass in 1990.

They usually try to press the hematoma. Wtf? Lubin didn't listen to his game plan. I'm afraid he's one of those fighters that will always try to rely on his physical attributes when the going gets tough.

He was killing him with those hooks and uppercuts on the inside. I mean flush shot after flush shot after flush shot.

Sebastian is such an interesting fighter. 6'6" with a crazy reach but doesn't like to box on the outside. He likes to wear you down on the inside and pressure you nonstop. His stamina is elite. He has a chin (though he got hurt) and he's strong as fukk. Very articulate too...I think he could be a star.

Imagine Fundora, who's already a good inside fighter, getting trained at the Kronk gym to develop his jab and chopping right hand like Tommy Hearns. That boi would be a fvcking nightmare :wow::wow:

honestly being an outfighter is a way to beat him...but then you also have to match his reach..this is the biggest reason why jamontay clark was able to give fundora problems..his reach was just as long as his and in doing so was able to force fundora to work behind a jab..but then clark made adjustment to use lateral movement and move away from his jab hand and being a lefty like lubin was able to catch him with left hands at will..fundora could not make any real adjustment at all...he was forced to come forward and ate shots doing it if i remember..that fight was the biggest reason i wasnt too high on fundora's ring IQ

Lubin Suffered Broken Nose, Separated Shoulder In Brutal Battle With Fundora

LAS VEGAS – Erickson Lubin luckily didn’t suffer quite as much physical damage as it seemed when he left the ring Saturday night at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

BoxingScene.com confirmed Sunday that X-rays at a local hospital early Sunday morning determined Lubin sustained a broken nose and a separated right shoulder during his brutal battle with Sebastian Fundora. Lubin’s shoulder injury will require surgery, whereas he’ll need a lot of time off for his damaged nose to heal properly.

The 26-year-old Lubin did not suffer fractures to either orbital bone, despite severe swelling surrounding both of his eyes. He was not admitted to the hospital and expects to fly home as planned.

Kevin Cunningham, Lubin’s head trainer, instructed referee Russell Mora Jr. to stop his thoroughly entertaining encounter with Fundora as soon as the ninth round ended. The obvious damage to Lubin’s nose and the swelling around his eyes clearly warranted a stoppage, even though Lubin sent Fundora to the canvas for the first time in Fundora’s career late in the seventh round.

Lubin was ahead by the same score, 85-84, according to judges Dave Moretti and Steve Weisfeld when Mora was instructed to stop their scheduled 12-round fight for the WBC interim super welterweight title. Judge Tim Cheatham saw their back-and-forth fight as a draw, 85-85, through nine rounds of what was at least a “Fight of the Year” candidate.

CompuBox counted 106 more punch connections for Fundora (255-of-706 to 149-of-368). CompuBox unofficially credited Fundora for landing more power punches (233-of-541 to 116-of-243), while Lubin landed more jabs (33-of-125 to 22-of-165).

Lubin (24-2, 17 KOs), a southpaw from Orlando, Florida, demonstrated tremendous grit by getting up from a knockdown late in the second round of this “Showtime Championship Boxing” main event.

The 6-foot-6 Fundora dropped him with a perfectly executed right uppercut that badly hurt Lubin, who used the ropes to help himself up. Fundora couldn’t capitalize on hurting Lubin because the bell rang to end the second round before the action could resume.

Lubin came back to win the third and fourth rounds on all three scorecards. The grotesque swelling between Lubin’s eyes became very noticeable during the sixth round.

Fundora (19-0-1, 13 KOs) was having his way with Lubin during the seventh round before a rejuvenated Lubin blasted him with a right-left combination as Fundora backed into the ropes. Lubin landed two more hard left hands, which led to Fundora dropping to one knee.

Fundora spit out his mouthpiece, which led to an extended break and prohibited Lubin from taking full advantage in that sequence.

Like Lubin after his second-round knockdown, Fundora showed real resolve by overcoming that knockdown to fight well during the eighth and ninth rounds. The Coachella, California, native obviously won the ninth round, during which it became clear that a battered Lubin began to fade.

Lubin lost the eighth and ninth rounds on all three scorecards.
