Hammer has skills, she was throwing good straight shots, but Shields defense leveled up and made her miss those same punches she was used to landing on lesser boxers.
Her biggest flaw and I don't know if she is gonna be able to fix it unless she gets some better sparring, is she's afraid of getting hit.
She got rattled by the first decent punch and couldn't maintain her composure. He would turn her head, stick her arms out, clinch, grab, hold, just about anything to stop Shields from hitting her with any type of consistency. Ref fukked up by not deducting a point. Those clinches ate up them 2 minutes. It felt like we only got 45 seconds of real action in each round.
The fight failed as an event, because it didn't have a good co main to bring in more casuals and liven up the atmosphere. Then the main event was a lil underwhelming because we only saw greatness from one fighter. So we got a stale card where nothing really happened out of the ordinary or stood out. Showtime pushed this shyt hard, but I felt like they were pushing an unfinished event hoping we just buy into that one fight. Not understanding that some dudes is just now getting into women's boxing and to ease the transition you gotta stack the cards with quality fights so if the womens bout is disappointing you still got some other fades.
