Porter is the type of fight that will tell me if Ennis really has that dog in him, can he grind it out in the trenches. Fighting this soft version of Thurman will say something, but not like fighting Porter right now.

Porter is known to mug it up against guys who are more skilled and athletically gifted than him. But he gets picked apart against guys who bring the fight to him and keep him at bay with sharp, quick punches. Kell Brook kept him in check.

Porter is tailor-made for Ennis

Meh. I find it wack when these PBC welters beat on scrawny old Mexicans and small come-forward Europeans. It’s not like these are evenly matched fights wherein you’d celebrate these wins or be proud of them. Meaningless record-padding fights. All up and coming contenders and prospects have them. But celebrating wins against dudes from a different race or whatever is stupid when they’re wack and meaningless. If you’re gonna be a corny flag-waving boxing fan, at least be one when it counts.
