Lucas123 writes "In a report released today, Gartner predicts that the time is drawing near when 3D-bioprinted human organs will be readily available, an advance almost certain to spark a complex debate involving a variety of political, moral and financial interests. For example, some researchers are using cells from human and non-human organs to create stronger tissue, said Pete Basiliere, a Gartner research director. 'In this example, there was human amniotic fluid, canine smooth muscle cells, and bovine cells all being used. Some may feel those constructs are of concern,' he said. While regulations in the U.S. and Europe will mean human trials of 3D printed organs will likely take up to a decade, nations with less stringent standards will plow ahead with the technology. For example, last August, the Hangzhou Dianzi University in China announced it had invented the biomaterial 3D printer Regenovo, which printed a small working kidney that lasted four months. Apart from printing tissue, 3D printing may also threaten intellectual property rights. 'IP will be ignored and it will be impossible or impractical to enforce. Everything will change when you can make anything.' said John Hornick, an IP attorney."

There are always people who try to hold back science. Regenerative medicine is here to stay. If there's a piece of technology that allows me to live indefinitely then I will want to take advantage of it. I don't want to die.

The time is definitely not near when we will be able to print full human organs. We just barely figured out to how to make ghost organs properly. I wish people wouldn't exaggerate so much.

How do you know you aren't? This could all be an illusion that you created for yourself. Also as part of said illusion you eliminated the memory of you being God. Maybe I'm nothing more than a system directive reminding you of this. Death is how the game ends and you go back to being what you were before you were born.:rip::cheers:

I want to live long enough to determine if we're living in the matrix or not.

this is an iteration of the brain in a jar philosophical quandary
trouble is there is no objective way to answer such a thing so it is a useless question
moreover it devalues our cherished individualism/persona and that seems like a lot to give up for an unsolvable, unscrutinizable and maybe even inscrutable, fancy

wow brain in a jar reference #2 for this thread

well friend we do live in a matrix so to speak
because the mind and consciousness are physical and functional matrices, respectively.

Just think about how reality is submissive to perception which itself is submissive to consciousness which itself is submissive to the natural infirmities of the mind. the later of course is secondary to, and direct proof of, our lowly evolutionary origins and survival needs.

And thus we continue to live in fear of something we must all face. The solipsistic ruminations of my early self are long gone. I embrace the unknowns of which the universe long determined. :blessed:
