Eh a private company built the og site. I've worked in web development at Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, small businesses etc., trust that the incompetence is everywhere.

millions......:laff:.....you know they charged BILLIONS
I don't know. I'm thinking that site would be less than a billion. Maybe 500 mill.

My employer charged in the hundreds of thousands of dollars they charged for simple, internal-use, intranet sites. I never knew what they charged for the big projects. They ran a train on the Postal Service.

Anyone who's worked for the gov knows that from infrastructure to software the gov is like 10 years behind on shyt that isn't meant to kill someone.
Yep. That's why they hired the company I worked for, to get their website ideas into reality fast. And, for that speed, they paid with an arm and a leg.

The Postal Service is on the cusp of bottoming out.
They dropped millions on IT projects that could have been developed in-house for a lot less. They just don't have the balls to force their employees to meet realistic deadlines.

Amtrak is a joke too.

everyone knew this website would bomb.
You think a CEO will drop over 200 mill on a non-functional website?

I wonder if there's a penalty in the contract to have a functioning ACA website.
I wouldn't be surprised if the contractor is charging the gov't 'cost-plus' for debugging the problems even though the didn't meet the deadline..

of course they are. When I was a contractor for the Fed Gov, we build highly complex , sophisticated networks and charge the gov to operate it because no could fix without taking months to learn.

Private firms for the government are eating good!

You'd be surprised. Granted 200 mill is a lot, but I've seen the private sector toss crazy dough down the drain on bs websites. Obama should have went to google from the jump, toss in some tax breaks for a good deal.:obama:

That title is misleading. It's not a fully functioning Obamacare site. It's a bare bones imitation that has no where near the features or the traffic the original site faces.

granted it would be illegal to connect to, and include all the agencies/functions of the real thing, and do what they are criticized for not doing.
Is the claim then, that they couldnt?

I just say change the title. It's not factual. They did that just to get views. Plus I hate when they put the age of people out there like that. Who cares if they're 20? Overall It's like subliminal jabs at all the people who worked on the OC website.
