3 Hispanic men charged with hate crime in Brooklyn robbery

A trio of hate-filled Hispanic gang members were cuffed for throwing a flurry of punches and racial slurs at a black man as they tried to steal his scooter in Brooklyn, officials said Saturday.

Christopher Nerry, 32; Jose Perez, 23; and Miquel Perez, 28, are all facing hate crime charges for the robbery and assault that took place Wednesday night on Flatbush Ave. near Glenwood Road in Flatbush.

The 21-year-old victim — who asked not to be identified because he feared retaliation — said he didn’t know what hit him when the suspects jumped him as he rolled down the street on his kick-powered scooter at 11 p.m.

“I was shocked,” he told The News. “I go down that block every night, every day and there’s usually no one there.” he said. “I was riding my scooter home and these guys started to hit me.”

On Saturday, he still had scrapes on his hands and complained about persistent headaches.

“I think they were drunk,” he said. “They just kept rushing after me.”

Witnesses repeatedly heard the suspects call the victim a “******” as they punched and kicked him to the ground. The victim tried to protect himself by swinging the scooter against the attackers — but they kept on coming.

“(They) just started hitting me,” the victim said. “I was scared. I was just trying to keep them away from me.”

The trio ran off with the scooter, but a brave woman who witnessed the assault followed the attackers to their nearby apartment building on Flatbush Ave. She got the scooter back.

Responding officers returned to the building a short time later and arrested the suspects without incident.

Cops told the victim that the three men were members of MS-13, a notorious international gang that originated in Los Angeles.

“I was crying down at the precinct,” the victim said. “I don’t want to have to worry about seeing these guys ever again.”

The suspects were released on their own recognizance at their arraignment on Friday, officials said

I'm so glad that black people are sticking our necks out and being pro-immigration so that our friends, the Latinos, can come over here and show gratitude by attacking us, kicking out of our own neighborhoods, siding with white supremacy, kissing white ass, etc. Lets let more of them in, right guise!!!?

Smh these two things don't sit right with me

The suspects were released on their own recognizance at their arraignment on Friday
How the fukk did this happen, Being a Law major I can't believe gang members got this benefit it's baffling, I'm in awe.

When a criminal suspect is arrested, booked, and granted "own recognizance" release, no bail money needs to be paid to the court, and no bond is posted. The suspect is merely released after promising, in writing, to appear in court for all upcoming proceedings. Most state criminal courts impose certain conditions on own recognizance release, prohibiting the suspect from leaving the area while proceedings are ongoing, or requiring that the suspect contact the court periodically while the case is ongoing.

As with setting bail, when deciding whether to grant own recognizance release a criminal court judge considers:

  • The seriousness of the crime;
  • The suspect's criminal record;
  • The danger that the suspect's release might pose to the community; and
  • The suspect's ties to family, community, and employment.
If a suspect who has been released on "own recognizance" fails to appear in criminal court as scheduled, he or she is subject to immediate arrest, and any chance for bail release is all but eliminated.

Soooo the gang members had to meet some of this to be given this benefit, this alone just fukking baffles me. Gang members don't pose a active threat to the community after assaulting someone and hurling racial slurs at the suspect.

I can't even get to my other point off this bullshyt
