I'm gonna throw a red flag based on what I know. Yea there was a Warner deal on the table, but there was 0 chance Pac was leaving Interscope. I didn't watch the entire vid but he mentioned that Pac's lawyers said it would be "easy" to get out of the one page jail contract. With the legal representation Suge had at the time, and the money on the table...it would have been difficult. But Interscope was willing to do anything to get Pac away from Suge, and to reunite him with Dre. From what I've heard and been told, Interscope had the inside line on getting that deal settled and it was only a matter of time before the trigger was going to be pulled.
Pac was going to drop at least two more records on Death Row before bouncing. Either the Makaveli album - or whatever was salvaged after Pac made peace with Nas - and another album (not One Nation). Maybe a soundtrack. His imprint was supposed to be Makaveli Records, under whatever label he signed with - Interscope, most likely.
In terms of the money amount...a good way to think about this is that the money is a down payment for you to create your imprint. When people see those numbers they think it means "oh he's getting 80mil for 7 albums." It may work like that in other genres of music (Prince) but rap is a shell game. Pac was going to use that money on solo albums, soundtracks, putting the Outlawz on, and signing multiple artists. I haven't verified it but I've heard that Dre got the idea to sign Rakim from Pac. He wanted to sign some New York legends and spread money around, including Rakim.
