What are you using as your DAW? I am still using Ableton Live 6 on 2 GBs RAM and a CPU 2+ GHz

Fruity Loops. Currently 4GB RAM, CPU 1.4 GHz, AMD something lol

That is adequate but you probably have to adjust your preferences on power usage. Do not have a bunch of other applications running to prevent it from slowing down.

A lot of times with windows you'll have stuff in your background slowing you system down.
