Yeah 'Inside man' definitely doesnt feel like a Spike lee joint but it is good.
25th Hour is damn good though.
)Pretty sure that Inside Man was acknowledged even by Spike as his turn at a "mainstream" film. At least that's kinda how it was marketed, and I remember some reviews even pointing it out.
Pretty good thriller, good performances from the cast, I wouldn't call it a classic but not poor by any means.
Oldboy-remake actually wasn't too bad. Honestly, I kinda like the change he made at the end. It's just that the original had such a massive impact (That film got a LOT of people looking at Korean cinema in a new light) that his came off as kinda pointless (And to be fair, most remakes are....see Dragon Tattoo remake....)
Only recent film that *really* irked me was Miracle At Saint Anna. And I hate to admit it because that film was so damn important to be made. I just don't think that Spike's skill-set translates well to that type of "epic" movie.
A teacher in high school gave me the book after we were discussing Clockers and 25th Hour, the book has some differences, especially the end.
I remember reading that if you're familiar with the NY area, and the way the bridge in the background looks, it's clear that Monty's pops is driving him to jail.
The book it's unclear.
Also, in his fantasy about going to Texas, in the book, he never sees Naturelle again. He marries the a bar owner's daughter
..the ending in the book dont sound as good as the movie...the person that wrote the book did write the screenplay so i guess he wanted to change it up,,,im glad he did--
