21 People Shot Last Night at Detroit Block Party on 8 Mile & Reno St. (2 Killed, Suspect Shot & Video)

DETROIT – Police are investigating a deadly shooting at a block party on Detroit’s east side.

Detroit police said two people were killed and 18 others were injured in the shooting. The victims were attending a block party when someone opened fire at 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024, in the area of Reno Street and Rossini Drive.


Police said the suspect is a 22-year-old man. He was shot in the left leg and is in custody at a hospital. He is listed in stable condition.

What we know about the victims​

Police said two people were killed and 18 others, including the shooter, were injured.

The two people killed have been identified as a 20-year-old woman who was shot in the head, and a 21-year-old man who was shot in the back. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The victims range in age from 17 years old to 28 years old.

• 18-year-old girl in temporary serious condition.

DPD believes that block parties are too dangerous and citizens were having protests against DPD on stopping the harassment not even a week ago. They have another event scheduled next Sunday I believe against DPD.



I’m pretty sure this just killed whatever leverage they had. It’s going to be a long summer.
