Stoudemire surprised his longtime girlfriend with a wedding proposal during a romantic trip to Paris.
People magazine reports Alexis Welch, mother of the Knicks superstar's three children, quickly accepted the wedding offer on the rooftop penthouse of the renowned Meurice Hotel overlooking the Eiffel Tower lights.
"I have been planning my proposal for a while and overlooking the entire Paris skyline seemed like a perfect place. I am so happy she said 'yes,' and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife," Stoudemire told PEOPLE from Paris.
Shortly after receiving the good news, Stoudemire jumped on Twitter from the City of Light to proudly announce his scoop.
Accordingly, Stoudemire presented his fiancee with an 8.5-carat diamond ring, estimated to be worth over $1 million, People reports. Shayan Afshar, a celebrity jeweler in Los Angeles, built the treasure. I wanted to design the right ring for her. I am having a great time looking over and seeing the engagement ring on her finger now, Stoudemire told the New York Daily News.
The couple first met back in 2002, while Amar'e was playing for the his old team, the Phoenix Suns.
