NEW: @X is pushing partisan content, most of it supporting Trump & sowing election doubt.
@WSJ reporters created new accounts with interests in things like crafts, then observed what content the accounts got recommended.
Their "for you" feeds showed pro-Trump content at double the rate of pro-Harris content.

Meanwhile, another story out today shows huge & growing disparities in vitality between Democratic vs. GOP posts.
There are multiple potential explanations for this finding, but some of them look pretty bad.
It's a shame that X has really cut researchers' access...
I wonder if we'll ever know what's going on inside @X decision-making?

How Musk tweaked the algorithms to boost lies and disinformation while suppressing truth will some day be a textbook lesson in why oligarchs should not be allowed to unilaterally own and manipulate big media for self-serving.

@amuse
Why are you allowed in my For You feed? @elonmusk, something must be wrong. I thought you were pushing Trump content and sowing election doubt and yet here I am seeing content from John Scott-Railton!!!

Elon is a traitor to america. came here as an illegal immigrant, forged his working situation and when he was rich enough, turned on this country and opted to try and dismantle democracy.

@RealPatrickWebb
This likely has to do with engagement rates and the split of Twitter users between liberals and conservatives.
I’d imagine the platform has more active conservatives who are real people, while liberal Twitter seems more botted and not genuine people helping push content, which might explain lower rankings.
Since most real users on the app likely engage more with conservative content, it makes sense that conservative feeds would show up at a higher rate.

Did they publish their exact methodology and data from the study?

@mysteriouskat
All the "influencers" on here but a few are pro Trump accounts so it makes sense. They have highest following and visibility. Hard to know if fully organic.

This is exactly why the first thing I do when checking into this shytpost site is make sure "Following" is clicked. "For You" is forbidden for me. It has NOTHING for me.
