When someone tries to overthrow the government by force, you don’t use it as something to campaign on. It’s an act of war that requires a wartime response. Making it about the capitol cops getting beat up instead of one side of the aisle rejecting the premise of democracy convinced a lot of people it wasn’t a big deal.

The Gen Z thing is a very interesting aspect of this election.

I was very skeptical of Trump's strategy of turning out low propensity young men. But it worked, and spectacularly.

Why?

My guess is 1. material conditions for young people are the worst they've been since WWII. They've been given a promise of what life is like that simply is not matching up to the lifestyles their parents and grandparents had. So they are more invested in politics than they ever have been before.

2. the right wing has effectively captured a huge youth audience through online propoganda.

Democrats will have to address both of these issues if they want to win next time.

The shyt that Clinton and Biden get for the crime bill is deserving but seems so hypocritical the same time.

I got friends that kill Biden for that shyt on a monthly basis, but will lean towards the 'tough on crime', push back on the cash bail reforms, etc......that cozy up to the Reagan, Bush Sr, Trump type of rhetoric. But then'll get mad when rhetoric is carried out on them

Despite how awful this is one of few glimmers of hope is now more than ever the Dems are going to have to be open to new ideas and voices. We all have our own spheres of influence and its going to be crucial we leverage them where we can. We know now without a doubt that grassroots campaigns get better results than Super-PAC run ones so we have to take this shyt back to the fundamentals. Win local elections, shape the state legislature, and work towards keeping those around us informed. Its not sexy work but its on all of us as individuals to combat misinformation
