The Dems lost in part because they ran four historically unpopular candidates. We all know about Hillary and her baggage. Biden barely beat Trump by 40K votes during Covid, and there was a reason he dropped out of several presidential primaries in the past. If it wasn't for Covid Trump would have been the favorite in 2020, if Trump let the adults in the room take the wheel of the pandemic he would have won in 2020.

The right-wing media apparatus will make any Democratic candidate unpopular given enough time.

Both Hillary and Biden were pretty popular at one point.
