People keep saying it was the Afghanistan withdrawal, but the COVID benefits ended late that year as well. The unemployment benefits, rent moratorium, Child Tax Credit, etc. And they raised interest rates to punish workers.

All of that is tied to the economy. I feel like blaming the Afghanistan withdrawal is the neoliberal way of not addressing the material conditions because not one exit poll mentioned Afghanistan.
I agree, the "let's get back to work jack!"shyt was terrible . Biden additionally ended the student loan pauses which we all knew would be a terrible idea.

She ran a dogshyt campaign if true. Why alienate some many Democratic voters in favor of corporations and Republicans? Who thought this a winning strategy?
Apparently someone enough to leak it. Also, since Kamala is a corporate Democrat, you gotta keep the donors happy. All that anti big corporations rhetoric doesn't sit well with them.

They’re not running to win - they want to win with the coalition they want, not the one they need. I told you - Democratic donors do not want populism. As long as money controls the party, the populism is over. It’s why Sanders scared them - he was self funded.

This isn't true.

Universal policy is the only way to get anything done in this country. When everyone can buy in, you can win. And everyone benefits.

Microtargeted policies only alienate people. Are they just and morally correct? Yes. But will they fly? No. Is the white working class racist? Probably in an academic sense. But America is racist. You live with these people. And you can get reachable ones, the not consciously racist ones on your side without entertaining their racism, to benefit everyone.

Any other strategy is destined to lose. You can't pander to anyone specifically. You just have to put forth universal policies that help all people. It's pretty simple.

Someone who did that would have supermajorities in this country.
People have been doing that for decades. The rising tide lifts all boats mantra is not new. It’s just when some of your buddies find out my cousins boat is being lifted as well they shut it down or demonize it.

I think it says something that a billionaire like Trump can cozy up to billionaires like Musk who warned that there will be "necessary economic hardship" all while millionaires like Rogan cheer him on and still be seen as "populist". Meanwhile if Kamala doesn't denounce Cuban she's in the pocket of corporate elites. Being white really is a cheat code. :francis:

Not only a cheat code, but a crazy one. :wow:

But apparently it's not enough since white guys still feel like they're somehow underprivileged.

This assumes a black woman can talk to that audience and win them over after one interview.
Its not about winning them over, its about getting them to know her and chopping off a piece of it.

Think about it like this, random people on social media got MAGA heads blown over what tariffs mean. Imagine her explaining that on Joe Rogan?

The same way Trump was doing stuff to get black people to at best vote for him, but really just not vote, she could have done the same.

Yea. She would have come off elitist, angry, nagging and every other stereotype the second she pushed back on any of the typical psycho babel he spews on his platform. Someone like Buttigieg would have flourished on there pushing back against that nonsense but she would never get the same grace.
