This isn't true.

Universal policy is the only way to get anything done in this country. When everyone can buy in, you can win. And everyone benefits.

Microtargeted policies only alienate people. Are they just and morally correct? Yes. But will they fly? No. Is the white working class racist? Probably in an academic sense. But America is racist. You live with these people. And you can get reachable ones, the not consciously racist ones on your side without entertaining their racism, to benefit everyone.

Any other strategy is destined to lose. You can't pander to anyone specifically. You just have to put forth universal policies that help all people. It's pretty simple.

Someone who did that would have supermajorities in this country.

A big part of it is that it is "countercultural" to be conservative right now. It's a fukking laughable concept, but it's true.

With Trump in charge and Dems/the left looking to solve this problem, I wonder if the cache of being "based" will decrease.

The tariff situation is such a unsurprising thing. A lot of people really thought that China(and other countries) would just take the hit and not pass it along to the consumer.

One thing to look out for is the student loan situation. With SAVE act possibly getting gutted, student loan payments for most will double and become unaffordable.
