i'm having a hard time getting outraged about this. theoretically, that electoral vote shouldn't exist :dead: it's not like we expect dems to get an electoral vote from Austin, or Miami, or New Orleans. the state has every right to eliminate it if they want

First off it looks like this is going to flop, they don't have the votes in Nebraska. That being said my only issue with this is simple: Trump's campaign conspired with Nebraska to attempt to do this the minute Maine - the only other state that isn't 100% winner take all - would no longer have time to change their laws in response. It's blatant fukkery that can't be defended. But at the end of the day it's not going to work.

Ideally all 50 states would be winner take all.

"Under Maine’s constitution, a bill can only become a law 90 days after it’s passed. There are 46 days until the November 5 election and 87 days until electoral votes are set to be cast." This could really matter:

Issue is that it appears its too late: Maine law requires a 2/3 majority in both chambers of its legislature to override the "all laws apply 90 days after they are passed" stipulation and Democrats don't have that.

Maine should go ahead and go to winner take all bc Nebraska is gonna change it the second it’s too late

I don’t see the point in another debate for her. The bar is so low for Trump that if he was still awful but slightly less awful then last time he’d get praised.

Why give him any chance to even slightly redeem himself?

And being so close to the election, it will force him to just try and land haymakers. She must either be really feeling herself or believes there’s no chance he’ll accept the debate.

Mark Robinson: Black Americans Were ‘At Their Highest’ Under Jim Crow

In the same 2020 speech, obtained by The Bulwark, Robinson celebrated black slaves who kept their “rags” clean and patiently took whippings from their overseers. “I can even imagine some of them with their slave chains on, the rags they had on. They made sure those rags were as clean as could be. And they stood up and stiffened up their backs,” Robinson said. “They saw what was coming down in the pike. And they only knew that it would come if they took those stripes and took those beats.”
