If you think the anti-genocide movement is insignificant, that's your prerogative. But you can't then turn around and blame them for making their little voices heard. Either they are too small to make a difference and can be spared of all the consternation and centrist scolding, or they're large enough to make a difference and should be reckoned with. I'm not saying you personally have taken this irrational stance, but it's been the go-to line for centrist/establishment Dems when it comes to the left during elections. Blamed for losses while simultaneously treated like insignificant members of the coalition.

Oh I haven't seen anyone claim her compromise was incomprehensible, the critique is that she chose the wrong side and betrayed her ostensible principles. We all understand why a sellout chooses to sell out, we just believe they shouldn't have done so.

The logic here is why people label us progressives obtuse. There is much more to be done in terms of Isreal/Palestine but theyre fukking politicans not the justice league. AOC has to play ball if she wants Progressive policies to pass, and Progressive policies are not going to pass if Trump is elected. The joke about "No one hates leftists more than a leftist with 97% of the same beliefs" is too real sometimes

First of all it can't be an anti-genocide movement if there is no genocide
it's fukked up that Israel and the Netanyahu government are killing more innocent civillians than necessary, but that doesn't turn Gaza into a real genocide like Rwanda or Cambodia

Second there are enough votes in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Ann Arbor that can be won by Democrats to win the state of Michigan even without some of the hardcore pro-Gaza people there

sorry but preventing a 2-7 Supreme Court and Project 2025 is much more important to me and the majority of Dem voters than an arms embargo on Israel

So rather than just simply state your dissatisfaction with their current product, why did you feel the need to highlight the irrelevant fact that a 3 second apolitical soundbite from them was used in a Trump ad unless your intention was to disingenuously insinuate that they are Trump supporters? You and others have said as much before in this thread.

I'm not completely on board with everything they say or their decisions to give various personalities air time either, but I'm not going to suggest ridiculous and laughable things about them like they want Trump to win and/or support Republican policies (both of which have been repeated multiple times in here). They are virulently anti-Trump with their coverage of him. Their criticisms of Democrats doesn't make that any less true.

Who is asking for superhero activities? An arms embargo on the state dropping bombs on hospitals and refugee camps is completely within the realm of reasonable and doable actions. It took the government 5 seconds to go 10 times as hard on Russia, so I don't want to hear about how they're doing everything they can. AOC is supposed to represent the left/progressive vanguard in Congress, and if she can't find it within herself to even make mere mention of the protests or righteousness of the Palestinian cause then what use is she? What ball is she playing? This isn't the typical intra-left firing squad stuff, this is the supposed leftist representative using her biggest platform to launder the lies of the powerful. As the article mentions, even Biden outflanked her on this. She deserves rebuke.

Given her skill as a political synthesizer, Ocasio-Cortez could have used her time to plot a new course for the Democratic Party on Gaza. Poll after poll shows that Americans, especially those in swing states, overwhelmingly favor a ceasefire, and disapprove of the administration’s handling of the conflict. She could have spoken about the pain that Americans, particularly Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim Americans, feel. She could have called for an arms embargo against Israel. And even if she felt she couldn’t take such a bold step, she didn’t have to help Harris push a narrative that is not true. She could have done what Bernie Sanders did in his speech on Wednesday night, when he said, “We must end this horrific war in Gaza, bring home the hostages, and demand an immediate ceasefire.” When one considers the realm of what is possible, even at a DNC speech, it is hard not to feel entirely let down.
