Steinglass asks: Why would AMI agree to pay $30,000 for a story that it knew to be untrue?
The answer is that there’s competition, even in the tabloid pay-for-play world.
“If it got out to another publication, another media outlet, it would have been very embarrassing to the campaign,” Pecker says.
