So, rec room, as far as I'm concerned, is done. shyt got hijacked from me in that I wanted to get an exercise bike, wife wanted a treadmill. Exercise bike has smaller footprint. I wanted to get an air hockey table, I was alone in that decision. Kids wanted a place to show off their Lego builds and my 8 year randomly rediscovered that he liked his Nerf guns and Hot Wheels again. I picked the color scheme and major things but amenities? Yeah, no, not all my decisions here. I believe it still turned out nice but this didn't go how I planned it to go. Here is some history with pics though.
When we bought the house, the room looked like this.
After we bought it, I did minimal work to it like removed those light fixtures and that bar thing since I don't drink. It has always been the kids room to play in, do crafts, etc.
When they got older, switched it up a bit.
As time went by, the kids get older and stopped using the room as much as the past. In my mind, I I was thinking, in a few years, I'll direct my attention to this room. Renovation first and then spruce it up a bit.
Fast forward to today
From this pic, you can see that we got rid of the green, took the paneling off. I got someone here to do the drywall to it because since that paneling was so old and stuck for so long, the wall behind it got messed up when the paneling got removed. My wife and I did the priming and painting of the room. I got a professional in here to take care of the flooring as well. Its from Lowes, their vinyl Maxcore planks. It extends to the mancave.
My wife got shelving in here that she puts her stuff in, kids Lego stuff on the top. You can see the treadmill in the back, that is a 32 inch Infinity Game Table in the middle with the two ottomans to sit on and to the right, my son's 1000 piece Kansas City Chiefs puzzle that we are all working through.
Crazy how a window can be the most singularly expensive thing in the room. Renewal by Andersen window. I know that they are in the Chicagoland area, but you get what you pay for. I like the accordion blinds that I have in the mancave so I reupped on them here.
A view leading to the mancave that I've posted of here in this thread.
Since it is actually gaming related, here is another pic of the Infinity Game Table from Arcade1Up
Got games like Monopoly, Scrabble, The Game of Life, Sorry, Trouble, Yahtzee, Simon, Connect Four, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Clue (obviously) in addition to things for younger generations like Candy Land, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Operation and Chutes & Ladders. They are all the official games, plus more. It's a really dope device that everyone enjoys.
All in all, combining renovations and subsequent purchases, this has run me roughly 10 racks. With this, the only room I've not touched in great detail is the kitchen. Since I think I'm going to be moving in about 5 years, I might be done with new things and just stick with maintenance of current things.
