so Safeties are more important than Cornerbacks?
i will say that the versatility of Safeties are huge in this discussion
you got Safeties you can move around like chest pieces on defense
you maybe isnt doing that with CBs. how many CBs out there willing to get dirty making tackles, CBs that you may send on a blitz. The biggest thing is how many CBs are truly man to man shut down guys

I know Poyer and Hyde are the most important players on our D. They do a lot of disguising, showing blitz and backing off etc. They're the main reason our secondary didn't miss much of a beat when Tre White tore his ACL

If the Patriots finish 12th or better in the AFC, that will be an achievement for the ages. Absolutely massive underdogs this season.

Bills
Dolphins
Bengals
Ravens
Browns
Titans
Colts
Chiefs
Chargers
Raiders
Broncos

All of those teams should be absolutely massive favorites over the Patriots. We'll see what BeliGOAT can pull out this year.:banderas:.

I wouldn't say more is one important than the other. But I guess they see the value of a guy being able to single handily take out the opposing team biggest threat as being higher than moving a chess piece. I can get it from that standpoint.

Overall tho I look at secondaries like olines. The group has to work together in order to fully complete their job. Like a LT can dominate so you don't have to worry bout helping him in the same way a corner won't need help. Where as a dominant guard you can use him to do a lot of pulls to lead block or he can some times take on two guys by hitting one and passing him off getting another guy, kinda like in a way you can do certain things with a safety in helping, moving him round etc

Yeah they are a part of a greater whole. Generally if you are building a secondary you can get by if you have one good corner and one good safety, the great corner to eliminate #1 WRs and the one great safety to help out on any potential bad matchups the other corners or linebackers have to deal with.

Plus itll obviously make the secondary's job easier if the guys up front are wrecking havoc on the pocket

You wanna beat the best you gotta’ beat the best. If they can win the AFC West than they can hoist that Lombardi.

That's true but in football you up your chances a lot more if your like the Pats and build your unstoppable team when there's no competition. Easier to get to the big game
