It almost feels like Eppler is getting pressured into choosing Showalter as his manager but I wouldn't be mad at most of the names rumored (Geren, Espada, Quatraro).

The heavy media bias in favor of Buck has me wanting Eppler to choose one of the other guys tbh. This shyt is ridiculous.
I want someone with experience so I prefer Buck over those remaining but I agree with the sentiment that I don't like the search being Open to media scrutiny every step of the way. I don't see the purpose.

I think that experience is overrated as hell though. The other 2 candidates have been bench coaches and working in baseball forever. The idea that a first time manager is scarier and worse than someone who's done it before is super overblown.
They want to make the decision for the Mets and like it cuz it makes for sexier backpages and content in general. Having seen him before and him being a part of the media is comforting to them but to me, it hardly has anything to do with how he's performed as a manager and more about that he was one.

I don't mind the scrutiny of the process but literally everything is about Buck. I've not seen a segment focused on either of the other two candidates. They can have a favorite but they are talking about it like if it'd not Buck, then it would be a disappointment. That's ludicrous.

After Callaway and Rojas making stupid bullpen and lineup changes/moves I want someone I know knows the basics of what needs to be done situation wise. Buck is actually one of the best at that. The guys with no experience are a questions mark in that department.
And while I see you point about the media, while I don't like it sometimes who they are promoting is the best choice. Terry Collins got similar treatment before he was hired and I think he did a good job as Mets manager.

I think the Mets just wanna bring in someone with experience to get them to the playoffs.
The last two managers just didn't have the experience and it showed.
Going 5-7 years in between playoff appearances just isn't cutting it for this organization.
I know its unpopular but guys like Dusty Baker, LaRussa, Bochy, etc know how to get these teams to the playoffs.
It is what it is, bring on spring training.

Yeah, 2 inexperienced manager in a row was enough. We needed an experienced guy after that last manager didbnit deliver. and I like Buck he seems like a decent enough guy and his baseball knowledge is undeniable.

There are only 2 manager job openings right now and the Mets made their hire first. Maybe efficiency is what I am looking for?
They made their hire first because those candidates (Espada/Quatraro) saw the Mets hire as the bigger hire and had first priority. :yeshrug:

I think the moves they made prior to the lockout made the job way more desirable than a job in Oakland who are looking like they're kinda rebuilding.

I'm at the point with the Mets where I'm just like: Just get me to the playoffs.
We've tried everything, and failure still continues.
