Not to be a debbie downer but I'm kind of at giving a pitcher in his late 30s 40+ million a year



I'd LOVE to eat crow next October and say I'm wrong but Maybe I'm so jaded about the Mets that my brain refuses to let me get excited about signing a pitcher who could possibly be knocking on Larry Holmes door, dude turns 38 in July.

He had an ERA of like 2.50 last year. Him falling off a cliff is not likely.
You are thinking like the Wilpon's own the team. Mets got the richest owners in sports. Even if he does suck, he'll just sign someone else when there is an opportunity.

Yankees are content with running a giant reverse ATM machine. And while making money hand over fist is great, the rest of the league passed them by whether it was with the Astros cheating bullshyt or with better GMs/managers

teams like the Phillies, Mets and Padres wanna magically open their wallets now and taking plays right out of George’s playbook.

Now......none of these teams aren’t winning shyt, but they are willing to spend right now.

Indifferent, wouldn't mind if he came back but I think we need less free swinger types not more. And despite his improved discipline at the plate I would still consider him that. Plus we got 3 top prospect infielders ( Baty, Mauricio, Vientos) 2 of them are 3B and 1 is a SS. None will have SS available and only 1 can play 3B. Having the option of putting someone at 2B is desirable. Let's get a vet 2B as a stop gap.

I was thinking the same thing about Bryant, but where would you play him? Just keep McNeil’s team friendly contract at 2nd, and throw more money on arms. Let’s get another proven starter and start to work on that bullpen. Need to resign Hand. Need a few more arms.
