this article, its a little late in season to be talking about they should sign somebody

The Kansas City Chiefs should consider signing several top veteran free agents before the start of the postseason.

3. Kenny Stills
Kenny Stills appeared in 10 games for the Houston Texans this year before being let go. He now stands out as a top available veteran option.

The Chiefs don't necessarily need help at receiver. Adding someone like Stills is more about getting that veteran experience and adding depth at a time when the threat of players missing time because of COVID-19 remains.

Stills has played in the postseason before, and he even took on the Chiefs as a member of the Texans last year. He is going to show up and be reliable, and the Chiefs may want to give him a shot if there are any concerns with the roster or with Byron Pringle's health at that final receiver spot.

2. Isaiah Crowell
The Chiefs had all the depth a team could have at running back after signing Le'Veon Bell. But that was because of Clyde Edwards-Helaire being a breakout player.

Now the rookie is injured, and his status for the postseason remains in question. The Chiefs would be wise to consider outside options, and Isaiah Crowell would be a top choice at running back.

Crowell last appeared in a game back in 2018 with the New York Jets. An Achilles injury forced him to miss the entire 2019 season and may have scared teams away from the 27-year-old in 2020.

The back has 3,803 rushing yards in five career seasons and could be useful getting 5-10 carries per game if needed. He is also a capable receiver, which is necessary for anyone lining up in the Kansas City backfield.

Patrick Mahomes is the team's second-leading rusher behind Edwards-Helaire. Next up is Bell, followed by Darrel Williams. Adding Crowell would give the team a veteran who should show up in great shape considering he hasn't taken a hit in so long.

1. Earl Thomas
Earl Thomas has to be atop any list of remaining free agents. The veteran safety has had a tumultuous 2020, and the Chiefs could grab him essentially as a depth option at safety. Adding a seven-time Pro Bowler for cheap before the postseason is never a bad thing.

Tyrann Mathieu, Juan Thornhill and Daniel Sorenson are the top safeties in town and all three have played in every game this season.

Thomas doesn't need a recap of his career at this point. The top question with him is if he can show up and fit in. He was let go by the Baltimore Ravens after punching a teammate in practice, and there's a reason no one else has picked him up since then. Problems in his personal life haven't helped his case either.

Adding Thomas and even just using him sparingly could allow the Chiefs to get creative on defense. The goal should be to add as much talent as possible, and Thomas should be interested in order to get his career back on track.
