Raiders WR Nelson Agholor reportedly told teammates they sucked after meltdown vs. Dolphins

Agholor, according to those in the room, said his teammates were selfish and didn’t work hard enough, and that they had quit against the Dolphins as well as in the previous two losses. He said there was no accountability in the locker room, and on winning teams players play for one another and the coaches. The Raiders’ performance over the previous six games was unacceptable, and too many people within the team were just flat-out accepting it.

Agholor told his teammates that they sucked.

Then, according to witnesses, he was done and there was silence. Gruden didn’t respond, and neither did any of the players. (When contacted Thursday night about the speech, Gruden texted, “I love Agholor.”)

Agholor, 27, will become a free agent in March. The former first-round draft pick had 48 receptions for a career-high 896 yards and eight touchdowns in his one season in Las Vegas. The Miami game was his most productive as he and Darren Waller combined for 267 of the team’s 418 yards of offense.

It's kinda wild if you really think about it that the NFL made it through the season without any major stoppages due to covid. The Titans and Ravens tried their best to fukk everyone's shyt up, but they set examples early for anyone breaking quarantine, and quite honestly I think Goodell should get as much credit as Silver did for the bubble.

That said, it's wild to me as I've gotten older that I've shifted my NFL offseason sport from the NBA/MLB to shyt like Formula 1. All of the NBA threads in this forum are about gossipy commentator shyt and the NFL overshadowed the NBA in the week before Super Bowl by timing how they were going to release the Deshaun Watson trade. He requested it weeks ago, and these clever b*stards sat on it during the playoffs, and waited until after the conference championships to release it when everyone is usually ignoring the Pro Bowl. It was the #1 story for most of the week.

I dont think they were ever going to cancel games. they said from the jump they were playing 256 and thats what they did and were going to do whatever needed to be done.
while it was a tough situation i still feel like they could have done some things better. I mean they were having teams play on tuesday afternoons and without QBs :dead: uneven punishments for masks violations.
IMO the bubble was easy to come up with and really wasn't worth getting all that much credit for it was an easy choice.

Is Mike Tomlin being held accountable enough for the lack of playoff success?

“The thing is, the year before this there were injuries. But the year before that, they were in a really good spot and they lost 4 of their last 6 games and didn’t make the playoffs. That’s three years in a row, and even the year before that, the loss to Jacksonville where there was just an embarrassment at home in that game.

All of that stuff has happened at the ends of seasons and it’s been the same guy in charge of it. The reaction I tend to have is, ‘Man, if this stuff keeps happening with the same head coach, when is he going to be held accountable for it?’”

The guys made it clear they aren’t trying to run Mike Tomlin out of town but…

“It doesn’t even feel like Mike Tomlin is being pushed for a neutral position to a little bit of heat. It’s like, ‘Ok. We’re moving along, he’s doing the right things and we just need better results,’” said Dunlap.

“It’s like critical thoughts about Mike Tomlin haven’t even crossed Art Rooney’s mind. That’s the worrisome part.”

All three agreed: it’s not just good enough to make the playoffs. The fans want playoff wins.

Jim Colony ended with this: “We love making fun of the escalator in Cincinnati (when fans are leaving because the Bengals have lost). But in some ways, haven’t the Steelers become the Marvin Lewis Cincinnati Bengals? Where they’re just good enough to get there?

We used to criticize Mike Brown and Bengals ownership like, ‘How can you stick with this guy?’ He gets to the playoffs every once in a while but he loses.

Have the Steelers kind of sunk to that level?

You hear, ‘it beats the alternative’ when you look at some of the other franchises that are a mess. But it’s just mediocrity. That’s what it is.”

Is Mike Tomlin being let off the hook a little too much?
