Americans have no memory :why:

We were in Iraq and Afghanistan and the economy was fukking collapsing. :mindblown:

Dubya was considered one of the worst presidents by 2006.

No republican was going to win after the conclusion of Bush's second term. By that reasoning only there was a lot less to lose.

Similarly no republican is going to win after Trump. Essentially 4 years is going to be at stake. The next president of the United States will be a Democrat it's just matter of will we toss four years in the Bushes or will we cut off the head of the snake right now.

those are the reasons there was "less to lose"...bad phrase. but bush couldn't run again, like trump can, and basically people were fed up with the repubs - trumpers otoh are in love. there also wasn't the ideological gap driving a wedge in the base when they went at each other, yes some "fresh blood" vs "old blood", but right now, we have a big divide in the party so no only is it about getting trump out, it's about seeing where the party will move (or stay)

Yeah Dawg, all I know is the stakes were high as fukk in 2008. Let’s not revise things because they turned out how we wanted.

People were fed up with the Republicans because the world was a mess, yet 25% of Hillary supporters still voted for McCain including two former Democratic Party Vice President nominees. (Speculating)

There was a huge divide then but people forget because Americans culturally don’t remember things past yesterday.

That scenario > Trump I or II

We're still in Iraq and Afghanistan just at a significantly reduced level

we're not talking about americans...we're talking person to person. the divide wasn't huge, and it wasn't as daunting as this one.

and 25% of hillary voters may have went mccain, but had she been the nominee, they would have went for her and her results would likely be close to those of barack

2008 Election Results
Candidate Party Electoral Votes Popular Votes

Barack H. Obama Democratic - 365 - 69,456,897

John S. McCain Republican - 173 - 59,934,814

this election is much more risky
