Identity matters and the left hates it but it does. People won’t trust you if they don’t think you’re one of them. The left needs to continue to invest heavily in candidates of color. AOC doesn’t win if she’s white. Jamal doesn’t win if he’s not black (if he does). It matters if you’re from when you’re running for and the people identify with you.
