Stand out? She was a perennial journeywoman, the one grand slam she made the final where there wasn't a Williams she wins and then calls it a career, coward
Seems like she got out when the getting was good to me. Homegirl saw the writing on the wall and said "fukk it, I still have my health".
I'm heartbroken that Venus lost (not surprised, just heartbroken), but if she keeps playing the way she played in this AO, this will NOT be the last Williams/Williams final we see. The VEliever in me was pissed that Serena didn't let her sister win, but I got over it in a heartbeat. The elusive #23 is on Serena's shelf. I think #24 is going to be the easiest. It's #25 that's going to elude her.
Steffi Graf
actually Steffi is pretty chill so I won't throw salt her way
Steffi and husband Andre both have declared Serena to be the GOAT. When Serena won #22, Steffi put on FB that she looked forward to Serena winning many more.
I hope Serena doesn't fukk it up and gets that Golden Slam this year.
A Golden Slam can only happen in an Olympic year (all four Grand Slams plus the Olympic God medal). Only Steffi has ever done that - and truth be told, it'll probably never happen again in the history of tennis. You might mean a calendar Slam, where you win all four titles in the same year. Serena has held all four titles twice (the "Serena Slam"), just not all in the same year.
