The Parisians have HATED her and Rafa since they both showed up. They use to give Rafa HELL his first few years at Roland Garros

This was 2005 against Sebastian Grosjean (who's French)

Then the next year against Paul-Henri Mathieu (who's French too)

:ohhh:

In an on-set interview with ESPN, Serena received a letter of congratulations and a pair of shoes from NBA Hall of Famer and legendary No. 23 Michael Jordan. One shoe was red and black -- the Chicago Bulls' colors -- and the other was a more Serena-esque pink.

"Thank you, Michael. I can't believe I'm saying thank you Michael Jordan," Serena said. "He's the greatest."

Stand out? She was a perennial journeywoman, the one grand slam she made the final where there wasn't a Williams she wins and then calls it a career, coward

Seems like she got out when the getting was good to me. Homegirl saw the writing on the wall and said "fukk it, I still have my health".

I'm heartbroken that Venus lost (not surprised, just heartbroken), but if she keeps playing the way she played in this AO, this will NOT be the last Williams/Williams final we see. The VEliever in me was pissed that Serena didn't let her sister win, but I got over it in a heartbeat. The elusive #23 is on Serena's shelf. I think #24 is going to be the easiest. It's #25 that's going to elude her.

Steffi Graf :umad:

actually Steffi is pretty chill so I won't throw salt her way

Steffi and husband Andre both have declared Serena to be the GOAT. When Serena won #22, Steffi put on FB that she looked forward to Serena winning many more.

I hope Serena doesn't fukk it up and gets that Golden Slam this year.

A Golden Slam can only happen in an Olympic year (all four Grand Slams plus the Olympic God medal). Only Steffi has ever done that - and truth be told, it'll probably never happen again in the history of tennis. You might mean a calendar Slam, where you win all four titles in the same year. Serena has held all four titles twice (the "Serena Slam"), just not all in the same year.

i aint going to lie, henin had the goat muscular forearm

her retirement is still sketchy
if anything i find player in current tennis having such longevity as sketchy

old tennis used to be full of 5 year primes and retirements. borg and such. and thats why this "most slams" thing is sketchy too. borg had 11 slams at 26 and didn't even play the australian :wow:

the ether
Yll know what's crazy????

During her career, Serena missed 11 grand slams in her career :wow:

Yeah, but when your career is 20 years long, you really can't complain. If she doesn't sit so long for such long stretches and skip so many tourneys, I'm betting she would have had to retire years ago. Same way that Jordan skipping seasons kept the miles down and made him more effective for longer.
