I think it's finally Leo's year. Loved Revenant, loved his performance.

The Martian has to be the most overrated film in this crop.

I really wish people would stop spinning the chiding of black actors and filmmakers not getting their due as "seeking white acceptance". I find that incredibly disrespectful. We expect every other field to recognize its standouts without it being framed that way, particularly in our own professions, why shouldn't this hold true with film?

Not only that but they grow up wanting to do this and wanting to get the highest level of recognition for it. Ryan Coogler is a filmmaker, not defined by being a black filmmaker. His favorite movie is A Prophet, which is a french flick from 2009. Guys like him and Michael B Jordan love film not just black film so why wouldn't they want to be recognized for their achievements by a group that I'm sure they want to be a part of one day because that represents the pinnacle in their field?
