my opinion is backed by what he's done to date and all the motherfukkers JUST LIKE HIM who didn't fare much better on that end. If sucking at defense and FT's got me ACC POY, a National Title and the #1 pick, why would I change? You knew what I was when you drafted me.
Yes obviously every 19 year old in the College stopped developing once they reached the NBA.

no one's saying he won't develop. He can refine what he's already good at. That's usually what people do with shyt they're good at. But if you suck at something, you could try all you want and not get better. Jah being a crappy rim protector will not be due to lack of effort. Some shyt just won't be your strong suit. It's up to the team to work around that and whoever drafts him WILL have to work around the fact that he'll always need defensive help.
I never said he was going to be defensive stopper at the 5 but there are areas where he can improve just on effort and conditioning. Obviously he will still need help on the defensive end but I never really argued otherwise.

Why do people act like he can't get better on that end?
I think a lot if it if not most of it WAS effort. Half the time when people drove the lane he made no attempt to challenge the shot whatsoever. I don't know if that just no awareness or his coaches trying to keep him out of foul trouble.
As far why would he change? He would change IF he has the drive to be great. If he wants to bad enough and with the right coaching I believe he can be a plus defender. I never see him being great on that end. But I don't think its fair to say he'll be a liability his whole career

He had the drive to be great at Whitney Young. He had the drive to be great at Duke. I don't think it's drive. I don't think he's Demarcus Cousins. I think there may be something to foul trouble being a cause but that's gonna be an issue in the NBA too. If Coach K is gonna tell him "don't foul," what do you think Flip's gonna do? Drive isn't why he sucks at FT's. His big ass hands have something to do with that. His lack of rim protection isn't drive. A shytty BBIQ on that end and lack of verticality may be the cause. Add to this the fact that he may be headed to a team with crap C depth and a coaching staff that turned Gorgui from good defensive 5 to crap defensive 4, well, doesn't bode well.
