Wilt Chamberlain
They see me rolling into the top 5, they hooooping, that I fukk up a workout.. that I fukk up a workout
Hinkie would just take Mudiay, Hezonja or Winslow, he's not about to be on the losing end of a trade like that.
Of course he wouldn't, but it's worth a try for the Lakers. They not losing anything by leaking this dumb shyt
I can't agree, at the 1-2 you take the best players available, no need to play games like that when there's 2 big men that you'd want. I can understand why they'd consider Mudiay, but in the end I feel they go with whatever big the Wolves don't take.

Only reason for a Lakers smoke-screen is if they have Mudiay/Russell and the bigs closely ranked or they like other players in the mid-range of the draft..AND they are confident they land a big in FA. they could be floating it out there to see if they can rip-off a team enamored with both bigs..and there isnt a shortage of them. Its definitely not a trick to Minny..its probably just leveraging off Okafor to Minny rumors since everyone else has Towns 1..so they can essentially posture as if it is the #1 pick.
I understand exactly why they'd want Mudiay, and it wouldn't really shock me if they drafted him 2nd. But, I don't see the point in smoke screens, they are in a position where it's not needed.
it could drive up offers sent to them or have a team bid against themselves to be in a position to take townscant hurt them to test the waters
The thing is, the rest of the top 10 draft basically have centers already.
The only team that would be desperate to get Okafor right now are the Knicks and they have nothing to offer, everyone else is basically fine with where they ended up.
I hear you and think the Lakers will just take whatever big is there.
But its worth it to them to see if they can get a haul for it with the FA market as it is. If they can get a pick before 16 or so...a couple quality players and future picks it could make sense to them. A lot of people see Okafor/Towns then maybe two/three tiers of somewhat interchangeable talent before 16-20. Porzingis/Mudiay/Russell/Winslow/Johnson/Stein/Hezonja ...then the Oubre/Looney/Booker/Kaminsky/Lyles/Turner/Portis etc. Opinions seem to have slightly more variance than usual in this draft and if the Lakers see a supposed 3rd tier guy as a 2nd tier guy or a 2nd tier guy as a 1st tier guy and can get a shyt ton in addition to the pick itd be worth thinking about.
Philly really really wants Russell. Trade 3rd pick and Noel for the 2nd to make sure they get him.
Not saying that will happen but just an example of how it maybe useful
Nah
Maybe give the lakers their pick back from next year but he aint giving up noel....especially not to draft a guard
would be a terrible trade for the LakersSo what do you think of this:
Hawks get: #2 overall pick
Lakers get: Jeff Teague, Paul Millsap(S&T), #15 and another 1st
Hawks draft Towns and sign a mid-tier wing(Matthews, Green, or maybe a surprise RFA)
Lakers draft a high upside guy(Oubre/Looney) and sign a top tier big(LMA, Gasol, B. Lopez)
Hawks:
Schroeder
Korver/FA
Carroll
Horford
Towns
Lakers:
Teague
Kobe
Randle
Millsap
FA

For both teams, Hawks would blow everything up and rebuild when they just were one series away from the finals?would be a terrible trade for the Lakers
