Really dope movie. Still holds up. Really good allegory too

I liked the visual aesthetic of the film as well, do you or anyone know what to call that type of aesthetic? It was like the film was slightly overexposed, lights were very bright. The earth looked crazy after the red weeds were "planted".

Movie legit had me too. Tom Cruise is just such a great lead actor, he can carry a film himself. I like disaster/apocalyptic movies, so this is right up my alley. I have reoccurring dreams where the sky looks like it does in war of the worlds when the aliens are being zapped into the machines from lightning. I'm going to rewatch it, it's actually possible for it to crack my list.

I'm still thinking of getting it on blu ray. The whole film has this gray filter to it that just looks ominous. I don't know if you've been to Universal in Cali, but the studio tour goes into his ex wife's neighborhood where the plane crashed. It was crazy

Yes! I love ominous tones in movies, I don't fukking know why. I think it's fascinating that many movies create an "atmosphere" that can make you like the film upon that alone. Another really atmospheric movie for me is Prometheus. The one time I went to cali I was fukking sick with a sinus infection or the flu or some shyt I'd do one thing a day and then have no energy. I went to some comedy shows, saw the hobbit in true imax (we only have digital in ky). That tour sounds awesome though that scene was crazy as fukk. And I know I talk about weed a lot, but being high as shyt and watching a movie like War of the worlds is so much more fun, weed lets me disconnect my mind from reality and really be in the movie world, like for those 2 hours watching war of the worlds I actually believe its possible for this event to occur. When I'm sober its just not as easy to get really into it like that. I'm not sure if I have war of the worlds on bluray... I think I do..

Well the movie is an allegory for 9/11 and the war in Iraq and all of those events so it KINDA is possible breh

Haha, I wasn't thinking that deeply about the film, I was just taking it literal so I could feel the terror of the characters. Can you expound upon this briefly?

I'm thinking about it. Kinda blew my professors mind with the shyt and the heads of my program. Rambo is all about reclaiming Vietnam, dealing with PTSD, and bringing some luster back to the military, Predator is all about making the military look good (Reagan's nickname was Dutch) the Bond movies through different years have addressed different social and political changes in society (detente between the west and the east, the cold war, a lady M during the 90s, the end of the cold war) and show how we didn't have an enemy once the cold war was over, but now if the enemies are harder to define, then the world would be a more dangerous place in theory. War of the worlds and the bourne films as direct responses to 9/11 and terrorism on our shores on a grand scale and the dark knight as the ultimate answer to the war on terror, as batman works outside of the system, uses torture tactics, even creates a surveillance system using cell phones in order to catch one man, asking the question how far is too far to catch the bad guy and when do we become the bad guy? Cap 2 uses that theme as well and Skyfall touches on the theme that Goldeneye did in 95
