so Ed who would you have picked last year for the top 4, other than not ALABAMA? looked like you were trying to make a case for ohio state being more worthy than alabama simply because they had an undefeated regular season against a cake schedule and struggled against pretty much every team on their schedule with a pulse. one win over a team that ended up in the top 25 of the final bcs standings. baylor won the big 12, but they got annhilated by oklahoma state by 32 points in their only loss as well as a cake nonconference slate and once again only one win over a team that finished in the bcs top 25. stanford had the most wins over top 25 bcs teams, but they also had two losses, one to a 5 win utah team.
its going to be subjective we knew this. is it going to be the 4th best resume or the 4th best conference champion? its going to be highly debated no matter what unless there is a clear distinction between the 4th and 5th best team. the problem scenario i have with the lets put 4 conference champions in no matter what mindset is say a team gets the top seed going undefeated with the worst schedule and worst quality win, the 4th seed is a 3 loss conference champ. is that really the test that you want that top seed to prove itself against? i want the 2 teams that make it to the title game to have proven themselves with at least one win over a top 5 team, thats been my whole reasoning behind going to a 4 team playoff since the first bcs title game snub.
