south carolina vs iowa - outback
South Carolina will learn its bowl fate on Sunday, and the latest projections point to a return trip to Florida.
The Gamecocks and their fans have been abuzz the past week over a possible bid to the Cotton Bowl, played Jan. 3 in Dallas, Texas.
At least two outlets, however, updated their bowl picks late Saturday night and believe the Gamecocks will be in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 1 to face Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl, the top SEC-affiliated destination for a team not making a BCS game.
CBS's Jerry Palm's final picks put the Gamecocks back in Orlando. USC beat Nebraska there after the 2011 season.
Palm projects Missouri to the Outback Bowl after the Tigers lost Saturday in the SEC title game. He has LSU in the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma State.
SB Nation also has South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl against Wisconsin, with Missouri to the Cotton Bowl to face Oklahoma State.
The bowl selection show is scheduled for 9 p.m. Sunday, but South Carolina's bowl destination is expected to be known before then.
Phil Steele's updated predictions from Saturday evening say USC will play Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl. His picks, however, did not take into account Ohio State losing to Michigan State and likely putting Auburn in the national championship game.
Steele has Missouri in the Capital One Bowl and LSU vs. Iowa in the Outback Bowl.
