They're afraid of the possible consequences. That whole athletic program is heavily dependent on the football program. If they hire some coach who takes VT to mediocrity they're screwed.

They really need to let him go and start looking for a successor that's can lead..... OU was dead in the 90's.... A whole decade of mediocrity... We got tired of that and found Stoops.... A Florida Coordinator who was at the top of his game at that time. Florida went and got Muschamp from Texas..... It can be done if they do it right.
