we have a back-up QB, a back-up RB, 3 back-up lineman, and a back-up linebacker, and a back-up safety playing due to injury

we weren't going to be that close when fully healthy...with that many injuries we have less than zero chance of keeping it close

West Virginia has the worst secondary in the country. They cant even cover white dudes with mullets.
