20-year old Gerald LeVert was a vocal monster....where is the talent like this nowadays?

The fact that the standard for what a “singer” is has lowered from this to piss water vocalists like PartyNextDoor hurts my soul.

Its no one's fault but consumers of music

In the internet age, its easier to put your music out for the rest of the world to hear

Most people dont care for this kind of music

They want to be "turnt" all day

Black people gave up on their sound for microwave music

Record labels have made a concerted effort to turn R&B singers into hybrid rappers while moving the soul status to vultures like Sam Smith, Adele, Kali Uchis, Bruno, etc. Meanwhile good artist out there like Sampha and Daniel Ceasar get ignored if they don’t have a co sing

I can sing as good as breh, but RnB/soul music is dead. It's all been replaced by cacs with imitation soul, because that's what sells to the major music consumers, white people.

Music in general has fallen off because artists have to be photogenic. Biggie, Aretha Franklin, Ertha Kitt etc they would not have survived. Everything is image first, figure out the rest later.
So true, talent is secondary. Marketability is prime.
