This is the problem in this country. Black people have been starving so long that when they get thrown a few scraps people get happy. These 3 men should have been arrested on day 1. Period. Because it took so long, I guarantee you they have used that time to get their story straight and get everything in order. Also, an indictment and an arrest is literally the bare minimum. But let's ask some real questions. Is the prosecutor actually going to fight for justice or will they side with the white supremacists? We don't know. Even if the prosecutor is going to pursue justice, their lawyer could easily move the case to a conservative area so he can have a greater likelihood of getting some white supremacists on the jury. All it will take is one white supremacist to gum up the trial and get them off.

White supremacists are vicious. They will protect their own at all costs. I guarantee you as soon as the murder happened people were digging into his background trying find a way to assassinate his character. Wait until the conservative news shows start trotting out their friends and family members so they can tell us how nice these people are. Wait until they say it was all a misunderstanding and they want forgiveness and how they've learned their lesson and shouldn't get jail time.

The reality is that at every step of the judicial process, the deck is stack against black people getting justice. Until we have a conversation about that issue and how to fix it, we are going to continue to get situations like this. The chance of these white men getting convicted is low. Everyone knows it. That's why they did it. So please stop embarrassing yourself and get some perspective. This was the bare minimum. And they only did it after they were forced to. Treating this as a major victory is like celebrating the fact that we can vote, even though the right to vote hasn't changed the status of our oppression.

Our goal is to be treated like full human beings like everyone else. Have you ever seen any other race of people have to jump and down and protest and get presidential candidates involved for a simple arrest? No. When someone kills a white person they get arrested first and they ask questions later. When a White person kills a Black person, they search for any and all reasons not to arrest the White person and then only after significant pressure and major prodding and social media campaigns do they bring charges.

I'm calling it now. The fix is in. One white supremacist on the jury and the trial is over. And let's be honest, in rural Georgia, there are a ton of white supremacists. That's why the first prosecutor never bought charges. People think it was a mistake or an accident. That dude did exactly what the people of his county elected him to do. Perpetuate white supremacy. Celebrate real victories, not fake ones. Smh.

So, what's your solution? All I see from you is word salad that services an attempt to diminish the fact that these two were arrested and charged with the murder of this black man. Do I want them dead? Yes. Would I have preferred someone ran up into their crib and sent both of them to hell? Of course. But, that didn't happen. So, here we are, with two arrests that could become convictions that may return a small bit of solace that will never fill the void left in the lives of Ahmaud's loved ones. I find people like you, and everyone else downplaying the arrests and retreating to a defeatist stance, suspect.

Stop this pessimistic, defeatist bullshyt. Tired of "black" people sowing seeds of doubt and acting like they're in possession of second sight.

:unimpressed:
defeatist talk is hoping that the justice system works in your favor instead of just handing out death sentences on a grass roots level.
eye for an eye is how this shyt stops.

Eye for an eye can still happen. Right now, they're in the hands of justice. Let's see how it plays out.

LOL. "What's my strategy." I'm on your side. At the very least you need to understand who your enemy is. I have no quarrel with you. My strategy is evident in my post. To focus on the actual goal. How would a white person react if they had to protest for an arrest? Why am I expected to react any differently? If we can't even be honest about what we want how will we ever get it? I hope the men go to jail like you. The real question is why are there so many Black people who, like you, dim their own soul to make moments like this more palatable? "Oh boy, we got an arrest." I'm sorry that's just not me.

Not only is the fact that it took so long to arrest him a problem. But meanwhile, coronavirus is ripping through Black families killing us at an unreal rate, unemployment rates in the Black community are astronomically high and chances are great that it will take years for Black people to recover economically. I haven't read through the thread but I'm sure there enough posters who parrot your P.O.V. that you don't need to read my posts. But for the posters who like my posts, I will continue to make them. Nothing wrong with diversity of opinion.

Why is it that we have to protest and create social media movements to get what other races get just by existing? For people who want to hear some truth and a realistic appraisal of our situation...

A 57-year-old interview that still fully applies today

Edit: Wanted to address your point on defeatism. This is silly talk. There's nothing defeatist in my post. The only person bringing up defeatism is you. But you do bring up a valid point so I will address it. At the end of the day, there are two forces at play. One is white supremacy and the other is the courage of Black people "to be."I am in no way shape or form defeatist because I choose to bet on the "Soul's of Black folk." Look up your history and you'd realize that since we arrived on these shores in 1619 Black people haven't stopped agitating for our freedom. The Black Freedom struggle didn't just start with Malcolm X and Martin King. There were people way before them. Because the heart and the soul of Black folk demands freedom. And any realistic look at this country would realize that the strongest force that exists in this country is the yearning that Black people have for full freedom and equality. As formidable as White Supremacy is and as much as White Supremacists put Black people through; for all the bombings and lynchings and rapes; through mass incarceration and a war on drugs Black people are still here and we are still fighting.

The reason I demand full freedom and equality is that freedom starts within not without. Martin put it best when he said, "As long as the mind is enslaved, the body can never be free." In fact you should read the whole segment of the speech...

Where do we go from here? First, we must massively assert our dignity and worth. We must stand up amid a system that still oppresses us and develop an unassailable and majestic sense of values. We must no longer be ashamed of being black. The job of arousing manhood within a people that have been taught for so many centuries that they are nobody is not easy.

Even semantics have conspired to make that which is black seem ugly and degrading. In Roget's Thesaurus there are some 120 synonyms for blackness and at least sixty of them are offensive, such words as blot, soot, grim, devil, and foul. And there are some 134 synonyms for whiteness and all are favorable, expressed in such words as purity, cleanliness, chastity, and innocence. A white lie is better than a black lie. The most degenerate member of a family is the "black sheep." Ossie Davis has suggested that maybe the English language should be reconstructed so that teachers will not be forced to teach the Negro child sixty ways to despise himself, and thereby perpetuate his false sense of inferiority, and the white child 134 ways to adore himself, and thereby perpetuate his false sense of superiority. The tendency to ignore the Negro's contribution to American life and strip him of his personhood is as old as the earliest history books and as contemporary as the morning's newspaper.

To offset this cultural homicide, the Negro must rise up with an affirmation of his own Olympian manhood. Any movement for the Negro's freedom that overlooks this necessity is only waiting to be buried. As long as the mind is enslaved, the body can never be free. Psychological freedom, a firm sense of self-esteem, is the most powerful weapon against the long night of physical slavery. No Lincolnian Emancipation Proclamation, no Johnsonian civil rights bill can totally bring this kind of freedom. The Negro will only be free when he reaches down to the inner depths of his own being and signs with the pen and ink of assertive manhood his own emancipation proclamation. And with a spirit straining toward true self-esteem, the Negro must boldly throw off the manacles of self-abnegation and say to himself and to the world, "I am somebody. I am a person. I am a man with dignity and honor. I have a rich and noble history, however painful and exploited that history has been. Yes, I was a slave through my foreparents, and now I’m not ashamed of that. I'm ashamed of the people who were so sinful to make me a slave." Yes, yes, we must stand up and say, "I'm black, but I'm black and beautiful." This, this self-affirmation is the black man's need, made compelling by the white man's crimes against him.

Ultimately, the question of defeatism is a simple one. Are you going to bet on your friends? Your family? Your children? Or are you going to bet on the racists? I know who I am betting on so defeatism never even becomes an issue. I will give all I have, then I will pass the torch to the next generation as previous generations have done.

Lawyer 101.
Only ask questions you already know the answers to.

Rather have all the video evidence than them surprising you with something else.
What additional video evidence is required to know that they pulled up on breh and laid him out for no reason?

That’s not what I said.

I said they tried to confront him before so the lawyer should want to see that as well to charge anything else. See if he said anything to show he was in fear.

Did you watch the same video everyone else did? Those cacs didn't exhibit fear for a single moment in that video. So, unless they suddenly became Dirty Harry in a matter of a few minutes, they were never in fear for their lives.

I meant Ahmaud said anything to show fear.

These dudes have had 78 days to coordinate their stories and the father worked for the cops/DA.

The same way Zimmerman got to paint Trayvon as anything he wanted since only they were there, these two will paint the situation leading up to the video to clear themselves unless there’s more video.

This thread is long as hell

So the 3rd person who was filming wasn’t the random good civilian who released the film? If no why was he filming and who then leaked the tape?

He was in on the murder and someone from their community or ws connect leaked out. Im assuming he filmed it as private lynching to be shared with ws.
