Spence did ALSO say he was trying to knock him out close to the end ON TOP of out boxing him as well and he didn't. He said he was gonna knock Porter out as well and didn't. Don't get me wrong I'm a boxing fan and I understand you don't have to KO someone to win but I aint letting that go. I just feel like dude was never that great. If you really the best fighter in the world, jumping up in weight should not get you slumped on that level. And it's not like he got laid out by some great fighter either. But plenty of us said he was overhyped before that happened. He wasn't beating any elite guys. You put any P4P guy in there with his competition and they're gonna look like all time greats too. But he was definitely skilled. top 10 for sure. But I have no idea how dude ever got number 1. shyt is asanine. Never at any point was he better than ward, crawford, canelo, lomachenko.

He went up in weight and loss to someone bigger and stronger. Gonzalez in his prime and in his natural weight class was definitely number 1. There has been a vacancy for 5 years now bc the top guys all have had asterisks, with the exception of Ward. Gonzales deserved his ranking. I'd prefer his reign over lomanchenkos lame ass reign right now any day of the week.

I thought he lost or very much had a draw vs Cuadras before King Sor slumped him. He arguably lost the fight vs Gallo too in 2012
