Watched both of these when they came out in theaters. Nice lil’ Oakland double feature...I paid for ‘Bother’ watched it then walked right into ‘spotting’. Both were very good. They even showed the trailers for Blackkklansman and White Boy Ric before the latter, but I never made it out to see either one of ‘em.
I only liked that they portrayed Oakland as the square hipster city it really is. The movie was trash in general though. fukking c00n as bytch all through the movie.
Just finished watching, good movie, the dialogue including the rapping irritated me. I wished they would have focused more on the plot/story line. I would have liked to see more of the breh than the cac but it is what it is. I disliked the ending to be honest.
I hated the cop confrontation scene. I took the police involved shooting he witnessed as something that affected him but not in a way as to where he was irate and wanted to get shytt off his chest to the cop. If I can remember correctly the cac was more upset at the shooting than the breh.
One more thing, as for the ending, I would have rather seen a different outcome,
where he cuts the cac off. The movie does a great job of showing what can happen to you when you have bad influences around you. I just thought it would have been a better ending if he gave the cac his piece back, went back to the halfway house after he was done with his probation and cleaned the bathroom like he was supposed to and then started a new chapter in life. I feel like this would have been a better message to send to the audience expecially black men. We get into trouble sometimes dealing with people we shouldn't be dealing with.
