Trying to bring in the veteran basically means they want to go 9-8 to save their jobs. They are blaming everything on Daniel jones and believe they are medicore QB play from being above average.I’m not a Giants fan, but once they confirmed that Schoen & Daboll would be back next year, that pretty much indicated that the Giants would be looking at Free Agency/Making a trade, rather than draft a QB at #3. Both the coach & GM are fighting for their jobs next year, would they really draft a QB at #3, in a pretty terrible QB class, and hinge their futures on Sanders or Ward?
It makes sense that they’re trying to get a veteran QB like Stafford, Rodgers or Darnold, because at least getting a vet QB will give the Giants options to compete next year, but more importantly avoid drafting a mediocre QB, who will then have to learn a new offensive system should Daboll be fired after next year. You don’t want to end up like the Bears, who stupidly kept Eberflus for Caleb’s rookie year, and wasted a year of continuity with subpar coaching.

“See we got past his prime Aaron/Stafford and almost made the playoffs, we are not that bad”
However Drafting a rookie gives them the out of this year saying well it’s year one of a rookie what do you want from us but you could also still get fired.
I said it in the Rodgers thread - I’m down with just signing him for the year rather than the other vets that are available (especially since they could’ve had Fields, Wilson or Jameis if they really wanted them last year anyway).
I don’t know if I see Cam making it to #3, so taking Carter or Hunter would be cool with me.
I rather they sign a capable vet that’s already here like Rodgers than to give up assets in a trade or lock into a bad contract. Don’t want to waste another year of player development with bad offense.
I would like to see Cam Ward here but don’t see the Giants drafting a black franchise QB. They’ll skate around it but we know the deal.
Schoen and Daboll better hit on these upcoming picks and not draft based on need only. Giants need a lot…still, after all these years of high picks.
Exactly why it was stupid to bring them back all in the name of continuity. This is all because mara doesn't want to be perceived as an owner that fires everyone every few years. He's clueless and is always worried about how the media/fans view things instead of doing what's best.I was listening to Talking Giants recently, dude said he wants them to get a vet, because he feels the FO will be fired next year.
I agree, best case scenario this team wins 9 games, but most likely the team is a 3-7 win team. I like Shedeur, but it’s pointless to basically waste a year of his development, when it’s all but likely Schoen/Daboll get canned. Get Rodgers/Fields; draft bpa at 3, take a flyer on a qb after round 1, and let the new FO pick their qb in a year or so.
