It's not about abandoning black folks. It's about getting a moderate conventional stance on illegal immigration. me and @∆y = f(∆x) have been harping about this for a few years. Beto would have won Texas if he didn't talk about ending ICE. All that caping he did on the border got him what? Cruz still got 40% of latino vote. The only time Trump's approval rating really dropped amongst his base over the last two years is when he started flirting with a more moderate immigration stance in early 2017. Dems are killing themselves by continually moving to the left on this issue. White people of all political persuasions are willing to vote against their own well-being (taxes/healthcare) over this issue. I wish Obama got this shyt done so we don't have to deal with this boogey man anymore.

Republicans will never let Democrats run from immigration or guns or war policy. Get real. They’ll always outflank them on any issue.

Background checks. “ they want to take ur guns”

New Middle East policy. “ lax on terrotism that’s kept us safe!”

Looking like Jon Tester may lose Montana. Arizona, we never had, but would be nice to pick up considering we're 3 seats down at this point - potentially even more by the end of night. The Senate was a long shot and it will hurt for decades because they get to shape the judiciary especially the Supreme Court). We'll have a better shot to gain some of those back in 2020 where more Republicans Senators are up for re-election

Overall, tonight has been a mixed bag. Big losses in FL. Flipping the house will at least create gridlock and put a check on Trump. Four Democratic Governor pickups so far, which is more important than alot of people even realize for those states.

Trump will take the racist shyt even further and Republicans in the Senate will follow his lead after seeing how it worked for all the states he went to campaign in the midterms.
Looked like tester hasn’t had dem areas report yet

The Senate losses are very disappointing. However, those red state Dems faced a very uphill battle. Trump is very popular in most of those states, and are deep red states. Joe Manchin at least made a name for himself in his state that allowed him to win. Plus I really do think the Kavanuagh no votes from the rest of the red state Dems may have hurt them. Plus the way the senate works, where it looks like it favors Republicans currently. At least up until the Obama era, there were a lot of Democrat senators in places that are now solid red states, before the GOP successfully completed its Southern Strategy 2.0.

I do think that Gardener and Sue Collins are endangered next election, thankfully. But still, bouncing back from tonight's Senate losses is gonna be tough. I hope the Dem leadership comes up with a plan to reverse some of the damage over the next two election cycles.

That being said, I believe the House races are more indicative of the national mood, and Dems are doing very well (+9 in the popular vote) especially considering the gerrymandering from the GOP since 2010.

Also, the House and Senate results in most of the Midwest (sans places like Missouri and Indiana that Obama did not win in 2012 or at all in the case of the former) show that the Democrats are doing pretty well there. Amy Klobuchar won in a landslide.
