Why aren't people excited about him?
People who are politically active are excited... but in the general sphere the word hasn't gotten out...

Rushern Baker was the Dem establishment favorite. But he lost in the primary.

So, the MD Dems haven't been as robust in supporting Ben. He's an outsider. Anthony Brown, who lost in 2014, had 16 years of being in Annapolis and being O'Malley's Lt. Gov. Brown and the Dems spent $18M in 2014 and lost.

Ben doesn't have those relationships. However, a lot of Dems in this state fundraise from real estate developers, bail bonds, big liquor, the cable companies and Ben has pledged not to take in corporate donations. Some of his policies threaten those industries like the bail bonds.

So without a robust fundraising machine and being an outsider to MD politics (he was the NAACP President and organized a lot in MD though), the general election has been frustrating. His campaign itself isn't big, the MD Dem party is doing the organizing on a bigger scale than 4 years ago atleast.

Hogan also has $9M, he's spent a couple mil of that, and he's backed by Big Pharma, real estate, the Kochs, etc...

Ironically, Hogan won while taking in public campaign money in 2014. Jealous should have done this in 2018... it's about $2M.

The USC/LA Times poll was one of the few that had Trump winning in 2016.

They have Dems up 14 points in generic ballot.

Looking back at the Ossoff guy, his ads and that race, I can't believe that dude was who people were rallying behind and doing the most for. So cringe.
