What BJJ did he use, exactly? His punches were sloppy. He did basic arm locks...the black guy simply couldn't fight.

for the drama

Whenever a black guy is on video getting knocked out by another race he becomes "big" or a "thug"
cs

But you mean he becomes big AND a thug

And the white boy becomes a nerd

Soon as video starts it says "Geek makes Goon tap out"

This is what happens when men don't train. A black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is more important than a driver's license nowadays...

Striking seems more applicable than grappling,

Wouldnt BJJ would be useful in conjunction with a striking-based
martial art, ie muay thai? rather than by itself

100%

i couldnt stand to listen to his voice for more than two sentences and i know plenty of dudes who can fight but got social problems and give off real nervous awkward energy in a 'normal' situation and go for months without puzzy

Of course it would, but im sure some striking occured before the jiu-jitsu came about in this video, almost every street fight is normally striking based as far as a technical standpoint. Dudes in the hood with no grappling knowledge are in big trouble for the new wave of jiu-jitsu fighters on the come up....

And with wrestling(or judo) also....cuz BJJ by itself doesn't have the greatest takedowns. Wrestling will get you there with takedowns and keeping dominate position, while BJJ will help you control, isolate, then lock limbs. If you take Judo, then you're pretty much good because you not only have takedown, slams, and sweeps, but BJJ borrows many techniques from Judo on the ground. Although...you kinda wanna keep it standing on the street just in case...

Thing is, BJJ is something that relies on being taken down. I.E. most of the techniques are performed off the back and pulling guard is basically pulling someone on top of you. Now, if the wrestler has some good sub defence and can pass guard :sadcam:

*edit
Nvm, you addressed that with Judo.

thats what I was getting at.
you obviously wanna be as well-rounded as possible,
but I feel like the focus should be on striking.. or at least in my experiences.

I cant lie if a nikka tried to wrestle me I'd be :sadcam:

Your last line is exactly why you should learn BJJ. Every school that teaches BJJ says the same stat: 84% or so of all fights go to the ground. Makes sense, when you throwing hands and a nikka gettin tagged, first thing they usually do is rush you for a grab. You should at least try some sort of grappling so you can know dominate positions and practice scrambles. To me the most useful thing I learned in BJJ wasn't locks and chokes (though regular nikkas get caught in Guillotines A LOT) but sweeps.

I box too so I have a striking base already.
